There’s a reason we choose every piece in our store carefully. We like things that feel real, well-made, thoughtfully sourced, and full of character.
This month, Michele, the owner of Atelier Fifty6 gathered a few of her personal favourites. From handwoven bags to sculptural vases and earthy textures, these are the kinds of pieces that quietly transform a space and often end up being the ones you love most. These are the pieces she’s loving most right now:
Khokho Bags
Handwoven in Eswatini from indigenous grasses, Khokho bags are full of soul - you can feel the craft in every detail. Michele loves how each bag is stunning, from the hand-carved horn finishes to the soft linen linings. They're her go-to for any outfit or occasion.
Tungoma Vases
There’s something grounding about Tungoma’s vases - the shapes are sculptural, the tones earthy, and they bring an effortless calm to a room. Michele often clusters a few together on a console or shelf. Her go-to styling trick? A single branch or a few dried stems is all it takes.
Ngwenya Glassware
Handblown in Eswatini from 100% recycled glass, Ngwenya pieces carry a story in every curve. Each one is slightly different - full of character, with subtle textures. Michele loves using them daily, whether for drinks at the table or simply displayed on open shelves. Useful, beautiful, and never ordinary.
Ethereal Candles
Naturally tinted, these candles bring a gentle glow and quiet mood to any room. Michele likes to scatter them around the house - a few on the dinner table, one in the bathroom, another on a shelf - subtle touches that make the everyday feel a little softer.
Jambo
From hand-carved serveware to bold jewellery, Jambo pieces are all about thoughtful detail. Michele often uses their tableware when hosting - it instantly elevates a setting - and their jewellery has become a favourite for adding a touch of texture to everyday looks.

Scatter Cushions by Aards
New to the shop this week, these linen cushions by Anelle la Grange have quickly become a favourite. Painted in the Eastern Free State, each one carries a soft, earthy palette and a painterly touch. Michele loves layering them across a bed or couch - they bring just the right mix of warmth, texture, and personality.
